Indoor Air Quality is often overlooked, but very important when it comes to the well-being of you and your loved ones. Just like carpet and rugs, air ducts in your home can collect pollen, mold, pet hair, dust mites, and other particles which contaminate the air you breathe. If properly cleaned and well maintained, several health and home upkeep issues can be avoided.
Air ducts inside the home should be cleaned every 5 to 8 years. If pets, children, or respiratory issues are relevant to your life, you may want to consider getting them cleaned more often. Air ducts, on average, take anywhere from 2-4 hours to professionally clean. The smaller and newer the home is, the faster the process of cleaning will be.
Our skilled technicians make the cleaning process painless and mess free. High quality, state-of-the-art air duct cleaning equipment is used, which utilizes vacuum devices with HEPA filters. In most cases, chemicals aren’t necessary when cleaning air ducts. If they do happen to be required by an industrial hygienist/certified restoration contractor, we will only use an EPA registered antimicrobial solution.
Here’s what you can expect:
A specially designed vacuum will be attached to the supply side of your air duct system. Once turned on, it creates a powerful suction throughout the entire system. Then, high-pressure compressed air will be blown into it. Next, we remove the register and insert a “skipper” (a high-pressure air hose with a ball at the end of it) into the duct work. The purpose of the ball is to shoot out compressed air through tiny air vents attached to it and knock the debris loose inside the duct work so it gets pulled back into the vacuum. This entire process will be repeated at every register in your home. After all of the supply duct work is finished, we will attach the vacuum to the return side of the air duct system. The process will then be performed on your return grills and return duct work. Finally, we will air wash the coil, and the blower wheel to conclude the process.
If you have trouble regulating the temperature in your home, experiencing excessive dust or humidity in certain rooms, and your energy bills are increasing with each month, you most likely have leaking ducts.
Leaking ducts allow 25 to 40 percent of air passing through to escape which results in large amounts of energy being wasted and emits pollutants. To resolve this problem, your air ducts can be sealed by a professional using Areoseal.
Here’s what you can expect:
All wall registers will be covered to make sure all air escaping is only exiting through the duct leaks. The Aeroseal particles will be kept suspended in the airflow due to the air movement. As air attempts to leave the duct through various leaks, the particles collide and adhere to the leak edges. The ducts are then sealed with only 1-2 oz. of Aeroseal remaining in the ducts. Finally, a computer-generated analysis will summarize the amount of leakage reduction that has taken place which will verify the success of the process.
Dryer Vent Cleaning in Northern Virginia, DC, and MD
Getting your dryer vent cleaned is often overlooked yet very important to keep up with. Dryers with lint build up can block the flow of air which causes heat build-up and can result in a fire. If not cleaned, it can also affect your air quality by condensing moisture in the vent and creating mold and mildew. If you keep your dryer vent clean, you can decrease the amount of time it takes to dry your clothes and extend the life of the dryer too.
